Espadrilles by Castañer and Pinaz care
The Sustainable Guide to Castañer and Espadrilles Care: Expert Tips by us
We all love our shoes when they're new and sometimes taking care of them slips down the priority list when we have so much else to do. So, to help we've created simple and sustainable ways in how to look after them from the start - ways we've personally tried and tested.
1. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How often should I clean my Pinaz and Castañer espadrilles?
A: Based on our testing, if you're spraying with protector you shouldn't need to be cleaning them that often. Lightly brush (even with your hand) loosens dust and debris, once you've done this spray with protector - so if they do get wet there is a protective layer to stop stains forming, brush off the wet before it seeps in so it doesn't stain
Q: I stepped in Red Velvet chocolate cake and ruined my espadrilles?
A: It happens. Start by brushing away all dirt be it cake, mud, playdough. If it's mud leave it to try and then brush off with your hand. (Message us if you need more help on persistent stains)
Q: Can I wear Pinaz and Castañer espadrilles in the rain?
A: While not recommended, sometimes we can't help the rain. Use a protector spray with a waterproofing element, it hugely helps.
Q: How can I extend the life of my Pinaz and Castañer shoes?
A: Our testing shows rotation between pairs, proper storage and regular maintenance using sustainable products can extend life by up to 40%.
Essential daily care tips continued below.
2. Essential Daily Care
Tried and Tested:
- Post-wear brush down using your hand (it's the most effective and doesn't cost anything)
- Natural fiber cloth for gentle cleaning (for more stubborn stains)
- If needed, water is the most eco-friendly spot cleaning solution there is. But only a tiny amount, a cloth should be lightly damp not dripping wet. For persistent stains
3. Material-Specific Sustainable Care
Canvas & Fabric Care:
- Gentle brushing to remove dust, debris and dirt. Water is the best cleaning solution for stains, use a light damp cloth.
- Use a protector spray - spray every x5 wears.
Jute Sole Maintenance:
- Sustainable cleaning practices - water is friendliest solution but not a lot as it can change the colour of the jute.
- Natural fiber brush techniques or your hand, you don't want to upset the jute weave too much.
- Professional resoling options
