Beautiful ballet pumps are the biggest noughties comeback this season and we’re so happy about it! In fact, Vogue Italy even said, “Classic or revamped ballet flats will be a true must-have” for SS21.
They’ve been seen on the runway from the likes of Valentino, Dior and Celine. Metallics and nudes are big for the season and extra details such as quilting and bows.
With comfort at the forefront of this style, ballet shoes are perfect for shopping, the office or drinks with the girls. They allow you to effortlessly go from day to night, something we’re so ready for now the Covid restrictions are starting to lift - after work cocktails anyone?!
Meet the Brand - Spelta Milano
Spelta Milano is an Italian family business that spans back to 1967. They are experts in crafting ballerina pumps. Using their interpretation traditional Goodyear technique of sewing and stitching, they produce extra durable and extra comfortable ballet shoes that ‘fit like a glove’. Traditional ballet flats are ‘mounted’ to the sole with glue so come off over time, however the Spelta Milano method involves the upper being sewn directly to the sole and then turned inside out to give a unique fit. The result is a pretty shoe that’s tough too! It is this process that has put Spelta Milano on the international map for artisanal tradition, quality and style.
As for the ballerina shoes themselves, we’re over the moon to have been given an exclusive edit that you won’t find anywhere else. Each one is handcrafted by experts in the family workshop with the highest quality Italian fabrics and leather. The materials and method used resulted in an unmatched softness with remarkable durability… put the plasters away as they won’t be needed!
Customers who have already tried these ballet flats on in-store describe them as ‘true to size’, ‘like wearing slipper socks’ and ‘it doesn’t even feel like I’m wearing anything!’
